Affecting Change Therapeutic Education

Affecting Change combines therapeutic education and experiential learning to help individuals, families and communities to create sustainable, positive changes in their lives. Our approach is both holistic and evidence-based, and we strive to provide our clients with the necessary tools and skills to develop a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.We believe that by incorporating a range of techniques, our clients can gain a better understanding of their needs and feelings, and ultimately have a better chance of achieving lasting, positive change. Support Offered

One to one work with young people in the home, community and school
Whole school training on trauma, brain development and regulation and how to support these young people in the classroom
School support on developing mental health, pastoral and trauma policies and procedures
Coaching of staff in classroom management
Tutoring and alternative provisions support program

Katie Sandiford

I have been working in mainstream schools for 20 years. I am a qualified art, textiles and food teacher, but for the past 7 years I have specialized in trauma attachment and mental health needs. I have worked with many young people and their families to support them back into education. This has been done by putting the child or young person at the centre of the plan and moving at their pace, building trusting relationships and building on their strengths to build confidence and self esteem.

I was a foster carer for 4 years, designated teacher for children in care and post looked after children for 7 years. I have 2 of my own children who love being creative cooking, baking and creating works of art.
